CHEER Field Trip and Activities Policy

We need to present our best face to the world as a witness for our Lord Jesus Christ and for home education. As guidance, please review and abide by these field trip policies.

  1. CHEER field trips are open to Active CHEER members ONLY. Please do not invite your friends, acquaintances, relatives, or prospective members to tag along. Exceptions may be made for immediate relatives who reside in your home full-time.

  2. Field trips will be announced at CHEER monthly meetings, on Facebook, and by email only. Courtesy to field trip organizers is expected by recognizing deadlines, age or grade limitations, and fees. Participants should respond and pay any associated fees in a timely manner. Your reservation will not be confirmed until payment (if required) is received.

  3. If you sign up, you should show up. If you need to cancel, please do so at least 24 hours in advance. Your courtesy will allow the organizer to call those who may be on a waiting list. Some field trips require a minimum number and one family can make a big difference when they are missing.

  4. Attire should be clean, modest, and in good taste.

  5. If practical, prepare your children in advance for the field trip. Let younger ones know what they might expect to see. This enables students to have a higher interest level. You may want to help them prepare a list of questions to ask the host/guide.

  6. Please arrive for the field trip five minutes early and let the field trip organizer know you have arrived. If you are late, it may not be possible to allow you to join the group.

  7. Parents must remain with their child(ren) for the duration of the field trip. Each parent is responsible for the behavior of his/her child(ren). This includes public or private forms of transportation CHEER may utilize or charter. Non-attentive parents may be gently alerted to their child’s disruptions or wanderings by another parent or the field trip organizer.

  8. In the event that neither parent is able to accompany child(ren) on the field trip:

    1. Contact Field Trip Coordinator (Events@CHEER-Boise.com) or other CHEER Leadership Committee Member, for authorization to send child(ren) with a grandparent or another Active CHEER member.

    2. Upon authorization, please be sure to fill out a Medical Permission Sheet for each child and send it with the responsible adult, in case of emergency.

  9. If you or your child has a special need or require a reasonable accommodation, please email the field trip organizer in plenty of time. Due to circumstances out of our direct control, please understand not every field trip can be modified to fit every member’s particular circumstances.

  10. Participants are advised to check their email and CHEER’s Facebook page before leaving for the field trip to check for last minute changes. Field trip reminders may not be sent, but any significant changes will result in either you being notified by email or changes will be posted on CHEER’s Facebook page.

  11. As you leave the field trip, please be sure you and your child(ren) thank our host and/or guide. Feel free to mail thank you notes and drawings to the business you visited.

  12. Parents agree to assume any and all risks and liabilities associated with CHEER field trips or activities, including the public or private transportation to and from such an event. The CHEER Leadership Committee and the field trip organizer shall in no event be held liable to any party for any direct, indirect, punitive, special, incidental, or other consequential damages arising directly or indirectly from any field trip.

  13. For the safety of our members, failure to abide by the CHEER Field Trip and Activities policy may result in the suspension or loss of your family’s field trip privileges.

  14. Abiding by these policies will ensure all CHEER families have successful, fun, and educational field trips.
